IODOSORB is a sterile cadexomer iodine (0.9% iodine) formulation for the treatment and healing of chronic ulcers. Iodine in IODOSORB is bound to a cadexomer polymer. When in contact with the wound, IODOSORB absorbs exudate and debris, swelling up and gradually releasing iodine over time.
Easy to use for clinicians and patients:
• Changes color from brown to white when the dressing needs to be changed.
• Non-adherent to wounds, reducing trauma during dressing changes and protecting delicate epithelium.
• Cadexomer iodine absorbs six to eight times its weight in fluid, limiting the number of dressing changes required.
• Assists in reducing odor associated with highly contaminated wounds.
IODOSORB Ointment
Usage:
• Apply topically to the wound at a depth of approximately 3mm and cover with a dry dressing.
• When treating venous leg ulcers, a compression bandage or elastic stocking should be applied.
• The dressing should be changed approximately two or three times per week or when IODOSORB changes color. If the color change occurs rapidly, it may be due to a highly exudating wound.
